Peanut Butter Seed Cakes for Molting Chickens

Molting chickens benefit from a bit of extra protein in their diet to help them grow in new feathers. These peanut butter seed treats fit the bill.

When chickens drop their feathers in the fall in preparation of winter, they benefit from a bit of extra protein in their diet to help them grow in new feathers - which are almost entirely protein.

These peanut butter seed cakes fit the bill.

Your chickens will gobble up these protein-packed cakes filled with ingredients that they love!

They're easy to make and include all of my chickens favorites snack ingredients. They're high in protein to help molting chickens.

Peanut Butter Seed Cakes for Molting Chickens

What you Need |

1 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup unsalted peanut butter
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup each:
Unsalted peanuts

What you Do |

Melt coconut oil and peanut butter over low heat until liquid, then remove from the heat and whisk in the cornmeal. Stir in the other ingredients until well mixed.

Lightly spray your cookie cutters with cooking spray. Lay the cookie cutters on the baking sheet. Pour in your seed mixture. Some of the liquid will ooze out the bottom, but that's okay.

Place in the freezer and freeze until firm and completely hardened.

Carefully unmold the treats from the cutters. Let sit to warm to room temperature.

Then let your girls enjoy them.

Remember, like all treats, these cakes should be fed in moderation.
